In the midst of a global pandemic that has affected and strained our lives in every possible way, the only thing that kept us going was the hope of the invention of a vaccine, and indeed, we’re recovering from one of the most traumatic phases of our lives only after we’ve been assured about the vaccine. It is hence a no-brainer now, for people to realize how crucial it has become for a country to have a strong workforce of bio scientists and microbiologists.
Understanding the importance of biotechnology and life sciences, and taking them up as a career option will play a major role in constructing a sturdy future for our nation in numerous ways. The course helps in designing products that have been known to advance medicine, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, food, and even environmental management.

Biotechnology in the food processing sector makes use of microorganisms for the preservation of food and the production of a range of value-added products such as enzymes, flavor compounds, vitamins, microbial cultures, and food ingredients.
Every fruit, vegetable, grain, and domestic animal we see today is the result of genetic modification. Therefore, with the help of biotechnology, we can modify the genes of plants which can be illustrated by a simple example. The wheat which is best for bread is different from the wheat best for pasta. Selective breeding of essential foods such as rice, corn, and wheat has created thousands of local varieties with improved yield compared to their wild ancestors.

Moreover, advancement in biotechnology will mean advancement of our country and it has the potential of making our country a superpower. It has great job opportunities and scope to learn, implement and discover incredible stuff, all set to be explored. Every field of study and research in biosciences has an importance of its own and is crucial for the support and welfare of mankind.
